A Patient Care Assistant was Monday charged with assaulting a social worker who had gone to investigate a report that she had injected her children with insulin.

Twenty-four year old Gail De Jonge pleaded not guilty to assaulting Huette Moore on February 7 at the Linden Hospital Complex.

Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry upheld the prosecutor’s opposition to bail and remanded the accused to prison until February 12 when she would appear at the Christainburg Court.

The Prosecutor opposed bail on the grounds that De Jonge might pose a danger to her seven and 11 year old children and the Social Worker.

The Prosecutor explained that the Social Worker had gone to investigate the alleged offence against the children when the nurse and the complainant had an altercation.  De Jonge, in the course, assaulted Moore.
