A Security Supervisor attached to Kaieteur News was this morning shot to the left  shoulder by one of two armed bandits at Middle Road La Penitence. Omar Bynoe of 112 CC Street Agricola who was armed at the time, returned fire and is suspected to have struck one of the bandits twice in the back.

A hospital source told Demerara Waves that around 5:20 AM Bynoe, who drove himself to the Georgetown Public Hospital, stated that he had gone to drop home a female companion when he saw two men approaching the car. He said his first reaction was to drive the car just a short distance away and observe the men’s movement. During this time he saw that the men continued to approach the car.

He immediately took out the gun he had on him and rested it on his lap. One of the men who was armed went to the window, demanded that they get out of the car and then proceeded to shoot Bynoe through the closed window.

The window shattered and the bullet struck Bynoe to the shoulder, he came out and began shooting and his perpetrators who escaped, he then drove himself to the hospital. His condition has been listed as stable. Hospital sources told Demerara Waves that no one else has since turned up with gunshot wounds.
