US deportee convicted for drug possession, trafficking

A United States (US) deportee who was caught selling marijuana and cocaine to persons around Bourda Market was Tuesday convicted for possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

Gordon Allen was fined GUY$25,000 and three years imprisonment for possession of 17 grams of marijuana, and fined GUY$3,000 and 14 consecutive Saturdays community service after he is released imprisonment for the cocaine charge.

The police case was that on December 12, 2013 at Orange Walk and Regent Street, Georgetown he was sitting on the Bourda Market pavement.

There, he had been seen taking out a black plastic bag and giving persons something. A search revealed he was carrying weeds, seeds and stems that was believed to have been marijuana and a creamish rock-like substance suspected to have been cocaine.

Police said tests conducted proved that they were narcotics.
