A son of the owner of Nigel’s Supermarket was early Saturday morning shot and seriously injured.  Police confirmed that the incident occurred during the pre-dawn hours outside Palm Court, Main Street, Georgetown.

The injured man has been identified as 17- year old Joseph Johnson.

He was shot his face.  Deputy Police Commissioner, Seelall Persaud said Johnson was mistakenly shot by a licensed firearm holder who had targeted a man who was breaking into his car.  “One man saw another breaking into his car. He discharged a round from his licensed firearm and hit another man,” he told Demerara Waves Online News.

Several family members and relatives are at a city hospital where Johnson was due to undergo emergency surgery.
