Soldier charged with stealing GDF pistol

A soldier was Tuesday arraigned for allegedly stealing a firearm from the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and allegedly being in illegal possession of the same gun. Canada-bound man arrested for cocaine-in-false bottom suitcases

A Canada-bound man was early Tuesday morning arrested with a quantity of cocaine concealed in false bottoms of both of his suitcases, police said. Members of the police force’s narcotics branch at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport nabbed the passenger at about 1:45 PM after conducting a search on the passenger’s baggage. The man is assisting with the investigations.

Fire destroys West Bank Demerara house

A wooden house at Goed Intent, West Bank Demerara was early Tuesday morning destroyed by fire, leaving a couple and their nine children homeless.
