MURDER ACCUSED: Joseph “Tony” Singh

A cattle ranger was Tuesday arraigned for the alleged murder of his common-law wife at Ankerville, Port Mourant, East Berbice.

32-year old Joseph “Tony” Singh of 10 Sewdin Street, Rose Hall Town, Corentyne was not required to plea to the indictable charge when he appeared before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh.

Brief facts by the prosecution are that Singh on December 6 at Ankerville allegedly murdered Jasmattie Ramotar also known as Jasmattie “Mamoo” Dowlatram.

Singh was remanded to prison until his next court appearance on January 13, 2014.

The man allegedly took his partner to a lonely area of Ankerville and beat her on her head and other parts of her body until she became unconscious.

He then rushed her to a nearby hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
