Clerk allegedly steals millions from Georgetown Magistrates’ Court

A clerk of the Georgetown Magistrates; Court was Monday arraigned on a charge of stealing more than GUY$3 million from her place of employment, the court said.

Twenty-three year old Tiffany Peters of Garden of Eden, East Bank Demerara was charged indictably with stealing GUY$3.045 million from the State of Guyana while being an employee of the Georgetown Magistrates Court.

She allegedly committed the offence between February 7, 2012 and September 11,2012.

Peters was refused bail by City Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty and remanded to prison until November 26.

Prosecutor Seon Blackman objected to bail on grounds that Peters had been on the run ever since the alleged theft was discovered.
