Assistant Police Commissioner, pastor among several injured in early morning accident

Assistant Commissioner of Police Derrick Josiah and a pastor were Tuesday morning in a injured in a vehicular accident on the Goed Fortuin Public Road, West Bank Demerara.

Josiah, who is the Commander for A Division, was rushed to the St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital for emergency treatment. He reportedly sustained a fractured shoulder while his driver, a Lance Corporal, received head injuries. He was rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital.

Pastor Ryan who was driving the other car was in a critical condition. He was taking his mother and aunt to a diabetic clinic.

The accident occurred about 4:50 AM when a motor car driven by Pastor Ryan suddenly drove off from the side of the road into the path of the car in which Josiah was travelling.

The Commander’s driver took evasive action and ended up hitting a utility pole.
