A car driver was Monday granted GUY$400,000 bail on a charge of causing the death of security guard, Roy Harilall.

26-years old Ramon Brito of 106 Section C Block Y, Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara pleaded innocent to causing the death of Harilall, a motor cyclist, on November 7 on the Prospect Public Road, East Bank Demerara.

Prosecutor Bharat Mangru did not object to bail. However, the accused has lodge his passport and report to the Providence Police Station every Friday.

The matter comes up in the Providence Magistrates’ Court on December 3.

Police accused Brito of driving PDD 7385 in a manner dangerous to the public causing the death of Harilall who was employed as a guard at businessman Bruce Vieria.

Prosecutor Bharat Mangru told the court that about 10:50 PM Brito was driving north along the western carriageway of the Prospect Public Road when Harrilall was proceeding south along the eastern carriageway of the public road.

Harillal overtook another vehicle and ended up in Brito’s path and he collided with the right front side of the motor car. He sustained severe injuries, was rushed to the Diamond Hospital and later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he succumbed.
