The man who allegedly slashed his ex girlfriend’s throat was arrested Saturday afternoon on the West Coast Demerara, police sources said.

Investigators said that after diligent detective work Godfrey Lammy was arrested at Sister’s Village, less than four hours after he was seen by the woman’s fellow vendors driving past Regent and Wellington Streets, Georgetown where she sells. Lammy is a former member of the Georgetown City Constabulary.

43-year old Denise Hope underwent emergency surgery and her condition was listed as “stable’ according to her daughter.

Hope’s throat was slit and her back stabbed allegedly by Lammy shortly after she exited the Universal Church (formerly Strand Cinema), Charlotte and Wellington Streets, Georgetown.

Her daughter told Demerara Waves Online News (www.demwaves.com) that the court two months ago granted a restraining order against Lammy after he had allegedly repeatedly threatened her.
