Motorcyclist loses hand, five others injured in three-vehicle smash-up

Two cars involved in a collision on the Number 28 Village Public Road, West Coast Berbice.

Two friends were among six injured in a three-vehicle smash-up on the Number 28 Village Public Road, West Coast Berbice.

A motorcyclist lost his right arm and the pillion rider’s lower limbs were broken. Relatives, who were at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), to receive the injured said 28-year old Travis Semple of Hopetown lost his right hand and broke his right leg. He was in a semi-conscious condition. His good friend, 28-year old Abocy Lynch, of the same village sustained a broken right leg and facial injuries. He was conscious.

travis abocyA female, who was driving one of the cars, was said to be a semi-conscious condition at the Fort Wellington Hospital.

Eyewitnesses said the motorcycle was allegedly speeding in a westerly direction while overtaking a number of cars and collided with an oncoming car. That car then veered off into the opposite lane and collided with another car.

Relatives at the GPHC were unaware of the circumstances of the accident, except for Chase’s aunt who said she learnt that he was returning home when tragedy struck.
