DEAD: Ralph Stewart

Two months after a 22-year old man returned from French Guiana, he was killed while speeding in Albouystown, Georgetown.

A saddened Gem Hall said 22-year old Ralph “Cashew” Stewart slammed into three utility poles at James and Campbell Streets, Albouystown and suffered severe facial and head injuries.

His three sisters and mother are living in French Guiana.

Hall remembered the former student of East La Penitence Primary School as a cheerful and loving boy since she first began taking care of him at seven years old. “He was loving. He was real loving,” she said of the youth whom she last saw Sunday morning before he left his Costello Housing Scheme home.

She dismissed rumours that he was ‘wheeleying’ on the CG motorcycle that he had bought just two months ago on his return from the French Overseas Department.

An eyewitness said Stewart was speeding and riding in a reckless manner in a westerly direction James Street from one side to the other when he slammed into the utility poles. His body immediately bounced back on impact and landed on the corner of James and Campbell Streets.

The motorcycle continued to move and struck a nearby juice and snack cart.  A number of items was destroyed.

The eyewitness said the motorcycle’s headlamp and mirirors were damaged but the vehicle was movable.
