DJ Cheddie gunned down

One of the suspects in the fatal shooting of Sheldon Cheddie.

A well-known former disc jockey (DJ) was Monday night gunned down at Turning Point, Tucville, Georgetown.

He has been identified as 37-year old Sheldon Cheddie of Chapel Street, Tucville.

A suspect was caught and beaten by public spirited citizens. He was taken to the hospital for treatment to head injuries under police guard.

No eyewitnesses were contacted but relatives said they were told that DJ Cheddie was sitting outside Turning Point when the father of five was hit by seven bullets.

His father, Keith Cheddie, said he was unaware whether the DJ had any disagreement with anyone. “I personally don’t know if he had a problem with anybody,” he told reporters. “He never told me that he got a problem with anyone.”

As news circulated about the incident, family members, relatives and friends flocked the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.

DJ Cheddie was also a plumber, trader. He was a former student of St. Sidwell’s Primary School, Charlestown Secondary and the Government Technical Institute (GTI).
