Woman confirmed drowned in North West boat mishap

The woman, who disappeared during Tuesday afternoon’s boat mishap in the North West District, has drowned, police said Wednesday.

Force spokesman, Ivelaw Whittaker said the body of Shevon Anthony was found Wednesday morning around 11 O’clock in the Barima River. It is at the Port Kaituma Mortuary.
Anthony was a passenger in a boat named “Breeze Out” that struck a log in the Barima River around 4 PM.. The boat was heading to Mabaruma  from Port Kaituma when the vessel hit a log during heavy rains.
The vessel then slammed into  mangrove patch along the banks of the river. The accident occurred in the vicinity of Sebai, sources revealed.

Those injured were 20,year old Troy Caravao who sustained injuries to his hands and feet and Diane Allen ,25 and Sunita Debideen,20 who both sustained lacerations to their head.

The trio was among six persons who were rushed to the Port Kaituma hospital late Wednesday afternoon. They were expected to be flown to a city hospital on Wednesday.
 The vessel was captained by Mark Caravaio who was among those treated at the Port Kaituma Hospital.
