Child drowns, elderly man killed; supermarket supervisor shot, robbed.

The drowning of a three-year old child, killing of an elderly man and the shooting of a businessman during a robbery of a supermarket are among incidents on Thursday’s police blotter.
 
Investigators said the boy-Doukuan Edwards of Industry, East Coast Demerara- was found in the creek at Marudi, Soesdyke/Linden Highway at about 9 AM Thursday.

Police said they are investigating an account that he was with relatives on an outing to the creek and is suspected to have drowned.
 
86-year old Sukdeo Singh of New Hope, East Bank Demerara was chopped and his body found in a heap of grass in his yard. The discovery of the body was made around 2 PM Thursday. “The door to the home was found open and the house ransacked,” police said in a statement.
 
A 67-year old man was killed Wednesday night at Pamela Backdam, Mahdia by an excavator which toppled him.  He has been identified as 67-year old Alexander Murray of Baroda Avenue, Bel Air Park.

Supervisor of Johnny P Supermarket, 63-year old Alfred Fernandes was Thursday still hospitalised with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was shot around 9:10  Wednesday night at the supermarket on Aubrey Barker Street, South Ruimveldt.

Police said Fernandes was confronted by a man armed with a firearm who shot him to his abdomen and took away a bag containing GUY$400,000.00 and escaped in a waiting motor car.
