Two persons are dead and two others-including an ill uncle- were Wednesday night still missing following a boat-mishap almost one week ago.

The body of 14-year old Shaquille Anthony Plass was found around 3 PM Wednesday in the vicinity of Cherry Tree, Berbice River. The boy attended Vyrman’s Erven Secondary School.

Police said the body of boat captain 49-year old Rudolph Singh also known as Rudolph Sheriff of Smythfield, New Amsterdam was found  around 9:50 Tuesday morning.

Missing are the teenager’s father, 49-year old Shondell Anthony Plass, who is a carpenter, and a relative 45-year old Bate Bender of Morgenstond, Berbice Rive.

At the time of the accident in the vicinity of Plegt Anker, Bender was being taken to Morgenstond after having been discharged from the New Amsterdam Hospital, relatives said.

The quartet departed the Canje River Creek on April 4..

The teenager’s uncle, Mark Plass, flayed the police for not doing enough to retrieve the bodies of Bender and the elder Plass.

He claimed that the police were reluctant to return to where the bodies have been tied up in the water by unknown persons. He said it is common practice in the Berbice area to tie floating bodies.

Mark Plass said police told them that it was too late to go back to the area and on one occasion they did not have sufficient fuel for the boat.

Police, however, said the two bodies have not been seen. “No trace has so far been seen of the boat or the other two men as the search continues,” said the Guyana Police Force in a statement.
