confidentialThe owner of Confidential Cabs was on Monday remanded to prison on a charge of attempted murder of another man earlier this month.

It is alleged that on April 4, Kwame Anderson, with intent to commit murder, wounded Lawrence Fanfair.

According to the prosecution’s facts presented by Corporal Seon Blackman, on the day in question, at about 17:50hrs  Fanfair, who is the Virtual Complainant (VC), was on his pedal cycle on Robb St, proceeding East in the vicinity of Confidential Cabs.

The VC’s bike was almost hit by a motorcar, and as a result an argument ensued between the VC and the driver of the vehicle. Blackman continued that the defendant parted the argument and returned to his place, but the VC rushed him with a knife. As a result, the defendant took a pointed object he had in his taxi base and stabbed the VC with it. The VC was then taken to the hospital, where he was admitted and his condition listed as serious.

Representing Anderson was Mark Waldron, and he reiterated the prosecution’s facts in that his client had walked away and it was the VC who attacked the defendant first.

Waldron continued that the law allows for a person to use reasonable force to defend one’s property, and so applied for bail for his client.  Anderson is 35 years old and a father of three children.

The prosecution however objected to bail based on the nature of the offense, the punishment it attracted and the condition of the VC, who remains in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Anderson was at first remanded by acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine Beharry and transferred to Court Three, where he was further remanded, to make another court appearance on April 12.
